Michele Courtney is the Principal of Galvez Primary School.

Michele Courtney brings more than two decades of experience in education to her new role as principal of Galvez Primary School. Having spent her entire career with Ascension Public Schools, she has served students and families in a variety of teaching and leadership roles across the district. Courtney earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University.

She began her career with Ascension Public Schools in 2004 as a seventh-grade social studies and EXCEL teacher at St. Amant Middle School before teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade geography at Dutchtown Middle School. In 2005, she joined Galvez Primary School, where she taught first grade, third grade, and self-contained special education before serving as assistant principal. Her years of service at Galvez Primary have provided her with a deep understanding of the school community and a strong commitment to supporting student success.

"It is a privilege and an honor to get to serve in the community in which I live, and I do not take it lightly. I am honored to continue the work that we do at Galvez Primary and make our little pirates the strongest school that it can be," says Courtney.

Courtney has been married to her husband, Jamie, for 32 years. Together they have three children: Caitlin Gautreau, Evan Courtney, and Dillon Courtney. They are also the proud grandparents of four grandchildren: Reese, Ganon, Corinne, and Cooper.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Scott earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Nicholls State University and a master's degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education. Her career has been marked by a deep dedication to enhancing educational experiences for students across multiple parishes. Before joining Ascension Public Schools, Scott worked in Terrebonne Parish as a classroom teacher. She furthered her skills in Lafourche Parish, where she served as a classroom teacher, mentor teacher, master teacher, and administrative assistant. She also contributed her expertise as a District Master Teacher in Assumption Parish, playing a pivotal role in improving educational standards and teacher development. Scott's journey with Ascension Public Schools began as a 2nd-grade teacher and Mentor Teacher at Donaldsonville Primary, where she was instrumental in fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Her leadership skills were further showcased during her tenure as a Master Teacher at Gonzales Middle School.

She is married to Toby Scott.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lemoine is a graduate of Hahnville High School and holds a bachelor of science in microbiology and a master of arts in teaching from Louisiana State University. She furthered her education with a master’s degree in educational leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University. In 2023, she completed a doctoral degree in educational leadership and research from LSU. Throughout her career, Lemoine has served in various roles, including as a microbiologist and lab manager at LSU and as a preschool music teacher. Her experience in these positions honed her ability to build meaningful relationships with people of all ages and lead with a positive influence.  She spent twelve years teaching seventh-grade math and science at Prairieville Middle School and Bluff Middle School. Lemoine furthered her leadership skills as an instructional coach at Central Middle School. Lemoine served as the Assistant Principal at Gonzales Middle School for the 24-25 and 25-26 school year.

She is married to Neil Lemoine, and together they are parents of six children: Austen, Dariyn, Joshua, Elizabeth, Matthew and Catherine.
